  • Costa Rica Country Club as wedding venue in Costa Rica

  • ELIZABETH & DAN COSTA RICA WEDDING PHOTOS

Elizabeth and Dan had a beautiful destination wedding on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica near Puerto Viejo in Punta Uva. The quiet beach at Punta Uva is known for its calm reef protected water, white sand and located 8.5 km (about 5 miles) from downtown Puerto Viejo. Most of the area is located within the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge so nature viewing opportunities are abundant with monkeys, sloths, and many species of birds.

When I put together these short stories to go along with the wedding photos I ask the clients why they chose Costa Rica for their destination wedding and how they met. Almost always the information comes from the newly wed bride, but with Elizabeth and Dan, Dan sent me the information and I have to say that it was refreshing and really impressed and touched me what Dan replied so I just wanted to share it verbatim, so below is Dan’s reply.

“Why did we choose Costa Rica? Well to be honest we had a $5k budget for our wedding, and we wanted to have an epic adventure everyone would remember for the rest of their lives. You only really get all your people in the same place twice in life, once when you get married, and again when you die, so forget a day, we wanted a whole week. How do you convince all of your friends and family to hang out for a week with their busy American lifestyles. Invite them on a once in a lifetime adventure vacation, and make it as cost efficient as possible. We love to travel internationally, and eventually want to sail around the world together, so destination wedding was of course what we really wanted to do. 신용카드현금화
It seemed like an almost impossible task to pull off, especially with our budget, but we were convinced there was a way. We put together a list of the countries we wanted to travel to, looked at vacation rental costs, and flight costs from all 6 states we wanted people to fly out from. Due to flight costs our first 2 choices Italy and New Zealand were quickly dismissed. Costa Rica was 3rd on our list, and mostly because I have been trying to hang out with a sloth in the wild for over a decade. Literally with an hour or two of searching the internet I had found the place in Punta Uva, which cost $2K for a whole week and could house everyone. The access to the beach meant we could use it as the venue, Sept was a good month for the area weather wise, there were said to be sloths on the property, and everyone could get round trip tickets for less than $500 from the US. The jaguar rescue, zip-line adventure, snorkeling, beach and other tours meant there was more than a week worth of stuff to do. It was the beginning of a lot of events that eventually lead up to the best day of our lives.
I can go on about how we did almost no planning other than getting the venue and providing transportation, about all the local people we meet that went over and above for us, (including Diego), how all our friends rallied on the wedding day to make it absolutely stress free for us. I’m not sure how much you want. From beginning to end it was the most amazing experience of my life. Everything exceeded any expectation we had. Diego was awesome and fit in with our group really well, wish he would have been able to stay and hang out. Elizabeth can help you with info about how we met, if you want more of the story about our epic wedding adventure to Costa Rica with our 25 best friends and family I am more than happy to share.
Thanks again, the photos so far have exceeded our expectations!!!”

  • Catering services for your wedding in Costa Rica

Every wedding guest secretly hopes for amazing food, and of course, the wedding couple also wants everything to be perfect that day. Lucky for you, planning a spectacular wedding menu is easier than you think; all it takes is a little pre work, some creativity and a great catering service

Looking for morewedding planning inspiration? Our list of tips for the perfect wedding menu will hopefully help you pick up great ideas for that special day.

    1.Plan your wedding menu early

To get your caterer of choice, you may need to book it as much as six months in advance. But if you are having your party at a particular venue, ask first because some weddingvenues request to use their in-house chef for catering.

    2.Set a budget

Knowing how much money you have to spend in food will help you decide all sorts of things, such as the style of the service, what kind of appetizers to serve and whether you’ll just have a cocktails and appetizers reception or a full meal.

3.Nail down the guest list for the wedding reception

Even if you don’t know exactly yet who’s coming to the wedding, you should at least have a fairly good estimate on how many people will need to be served. If you’re going to have a very large guest list, a delicious wedding menu option might be a creative pasta bar with vegetables and salads; it´s easier and probably more economic than a served plate or a big buffet.

    4.Possible allergies and dietary requirements

Planning the perfectweddingmenu will imply that everyone can enjoy your reception without having to worry about a trip to the hospital. What about asking in the invitation if the guest is vegetarian, suffers from allergies or is lactose or gluten intolerant? That will give you the chance to choose foods for those people and make them enjoy the party at its full.

    5.Use local products

For the most delicious wedding menu options, make sure you’re incorporating whatever is in season, to build your dishes with locally available choices. This will make fresher dishes and will help your budget!

    6.The best snacks

Have a variety of snacks to ease the hunger before the meal is served. You can use a mix of nuts and raisins, or combine salty snacks with vegetarian appetizers.

7.For the main menu you can choose between the following options, with some garnishes and/or salad

    • Meat: steak, glazed roast, baked meat…
    • Pork: the dishes based on pork are also a good choice, like baked tenderloin and stuffed pork loin.
    • Chicken: with a mushroom sauce, roasted or stuffed.
    • Sushi: sushi rolls and sticky rice, to have an outstanding and memorable meal.
    • Pasta: Cannelloni, ravioli, lasagna…
    • Salmon or sea bass

Any way you decide, don´t worry, at Stories Wedding Photography we will help you with the most special day of your life, from the wedding menu, the wedding planner and the wedding venue to the most spectacular photographs of that day. Contact us!

  • CHRISTINA & TITO COSTA RICA WEDDING PHOTOS

Christina and Tito (Ernesto) had their Costa Rica destination wedding at the Hotel Riu located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica on Playa Matapola. The Riu Guanacaste is the lone permanent structure that can be seen from the playa matapalo, a secluded beach snuggled in the gulf of Papagayo. The silvery sandy beach is almost two kilometers long with clean and safe water and visitors can enjoy a swim anytime in the day or night at the beautiful and tranquil beach. Christina & Tito had their wedding ceremony at the Riu, but then proceeded with the celebrations on a catamaran with all of their family and guests. What a wonderful way to celebrate their new journey in life, than a day at sea with family and friends.

Christina and Tito met 6 years ago while working at a summer day camp in Chicago (their hometown) and they are both teachers and absolutely love to travel. One day two of their friends recommended Guanacaste, Costa Rica to them, a few years ago, so they decided to go there for Christmas that year. They were blown away by the culture, the people, the hospitality, and of course the beautiful landscape! When they got engaged, they both knew instantly that they wanted to share their special place (Costa Rica) with all of their friends and family! Now those same feelings of joy and excitement as they come home and tell everyone about their trip is exactly what all 60 of their guests have been doing since they have been back.

  • Christina and Mathew Costa Rica beach wedding photography in DoubleTree Central Pacific

Christine and Matthew had a wonderful Costa Rica destination wedding with the help of Mayela Calvo, the Event and Wedding Coordinator, at the Doubletree Central Pacific which is located along a volcanic sand beach and a perfect base to explore the region. The Doubletree resort is 11 km from the village of Puntarenas, 12 km from Catedral de Puntarenas, and within the region of Puntarenas Pier and Victoria Park. Christine is Canadian and Matthew is Australian, and they currently reside in Australia. They chose Costa Rica as a central point between the two countries for their destination wedding so both families would be able to attend their wedding.

Their day started with both Christine and Matthew preparing and getting ready for this very special day. Christine has her shoes and wedding dress waiting as her hair and makeup are done before donning her wedding dress, while Matthew prepares in another room. Once the couple is ready for their ceremony, Matthew and the families head to the beautiful setting overlooking the beach with the swaying palm trees where the ceremony was to take place. Christine and Matthew exchanged wedding vows under a magnificent arch adorned with flowers and giant split-leaf philodendron. After the ceremony the couple headed to the beach to capture some wonderful sunset shots along the beach and nearby pier before heading back to join their families and celebrate their new life together.

A wonderful day that will live forever memorized in photos.

  • Amy & Fernando Costa Rica wedding

    Amy & Fernando, Cala Luna

Amy and Fernando utilized Alexandria Tomayko from Cala Luna, designing their destination wedding at Langosta Beach just a short distance away from Tamarindo. Cala Luna is a luxury boutique hotel steps away from Langosta beach, enabling Amy and Fernando a true beach wedding ceremony. The photographers started the photo shoot roughly 1 hour prior to the ceremony allowing them to get some splendid shots of the wedding dress, that was intertwined with exquisite details , the rings, the bouquet, and Amy getting ready for her magical day. The colors from the decor of the villa blended fantastic with the boxes of the wedding rings, pulling everything together perfectly. The path leading from the hotel to the beach is marvelous, transforming from the tropical setting full of trees and vegetation, to the sun drenched white sands of the beach. The day was breezy, so typical for the time of year when the season changes from rainy to dry, which helps blow the clouds away. Amy and Fernando were elated which was evident from the fun and smiles they carried throughout the day. A favorite time for the photographers is after the wedding and capturing the shots of the couple with the setting sun walking along the beach. These are the moments when they capture some of the most spectacular photos that will be cherished forever. After the sunset photos the dinner and party transpired at the Cala Luna, with the first dance and cake cutting. A wonderful way to close a wonderful day.

  • Are two wedding photographers are better than one?

Here’s a question we get very often at Stories: why do I need two wedding photographers instead of just one? And frankly it’s an answer we love to give.

You’ve spent all of these months preparing for your wedding, getting every little detail together, hiring professionals, and talking to them on the phone or in WhatsApp groups. We understand how difficult it is to host the perfect wedding, and it’s double the struggle when you are doing it in another country.

Why two photographers at your wedding?

We’ve been to enough weddings to tell you this: everything happens too fast. From the moment you open your eyes in the morning to the minute you’re saying “I do” and then partying like a rock star at your reception, everything feels like it’s in fast forward.

There will be so many people to greet, so many words your loved ones will want to share with you. You’ll be at the center of attention during the whole event… just sitting to grab a bite to eat in peace would be an accomplishment.

We can’t tell you how many times we’ve had couples asking us if we got to see their wedding cake or the violin duo they hired for the cocktail party after the ceremony. Things went by so fast they couldn’t find the time to actually enjoy them.

Luckily, we’re able to capture all those moments, because we’re everywhere at all times. And no, we do not have super powers, but since there are two of us, one gets to stay with you all the time while the other is capturing details, candid moments and odd views and angles you’d never be able to see otherwise.

Two Heads are Better than One

This is an example we love to give: think of the ceremony for just a minute, there are so many special moments to capture: the parents are walking the groom down the aisle, giving their blessings with tears of joy in their eyes. At the same moment, the bride is hiding in the car so you won’t see her until she’s actually walking down the aisle. The exact moment you see each other for the first time from your view and then hers… those are pictures we’re pretty sure you’ll want to treasure and they happen in an instant!

    Different Skills for Different Moments

Another thing you may not yet know about our wedding photography team is that our backgrounds are very different and they work perfectly together. Sergio, as a passionate natures photographer, knows all the perfect spots for your newlywed photoshoot and knows exactly how to turn any beautiful landscape into a flawless backdrop for your couple portraits.

Diego, on the other hand, takes pictures of rock bands and live action. He knows everything about making creative and edgy group pictures with your family and friends and will also freeze unique moments at your party and reception.

This combination of knowledge, artistic eye and attention to detail, we believe, is what really makes our work stand out. Moreover, we’re know you are trusting us with one of your most valuable memories as a family: you’re relying on us with your wedding pictures and we take it as a great honor and responsibility.
